Dr. Stephanie Martin, DHA
Dr. Martin has spent her career working to make rural communities healthier, help families living in poverty, & prevent youth in marginalized communities from becoming part of the opioid epidemic. She specializes in improving equity in healthcare settings through program development, community engagement, needs assessments, & federal grant writing. Stephanie holds a Doctorate in Health Care Administration and a master’s degree in Human Services, specializing in nonprofit management.
Stephanie has served in leadership positions with nonprofit organizations across central Virginia. Most recently, she served as the Grant Administrator for a Federally Qualified Healthcare Center (FQHC). She is highly skilled in building & sustaining relationships with partner agencies, developing programming that meets the unique needs of communities, conducting community needs assessments, & raising millions in federal grant dollars.
In 2017 Stephanie spearheaded a collaboration of local organizations, county officials, members of the faith community, parents, & concerned citizens to address the impact of substance abuse in the Nelson community. Four years later, the group officially became the Nelson Community Wellness Alliance. Stephanie currently serves as the Director of the Equity & Enabling services for the Alliance. Stephanie also has joined Hollins University to create the Masters in Equity and Healthcare program & serve as Program Director.
