Johnette Burdette, M.Ed.
A former Virginia principal & educational leader, Johnette has supported divisions across the state to build out sustainable practices that promote equity for all children. She has extensive experience in reducing equity gaps & promoting access to quality education for all students while centering race as a barrier.
An accomplished leader & subject matter expert, Johnette brings more than 22 years of experience managing people, projects, & organizations. Currently, Johnette serves in a dual role at Education Northwest as Director of the Equitable Learning & System Improvement Program Area, & also as Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) & Access Strategies. In those roles, she designs & develops education products & services that support states, districts, & schools in their improvement efforts. Johnette has developed, implemented, & monitored initiatives in the areas of leadership, school improvement, professional learning communities, & DEI.
Johnette leads large technical assistance projects, ensuring products & services are timely, within scope, & of the highest quality while contributing to strategic planning & direction for her clients. She served for eight years as principal technical assistance consultant for the American Institutes for Research, leading school turnaround & improvement systems to support state, district, & school improvement efforts related to DEI & equity initiatives. She also has more than a decade of school & district leadership experience in various urban, suburban, & rural settings.
A doctoral candidate, Johnette earned a master’s degree in educational administration from Virginia Commonwealth University & holds a bachelor’s degree in political science.
